Hi, my name is Josh Rouse

the embers of time

April 2015 erscheint nun sein neues Werk „The Embers Of Time“.

I AM JOSH ROUSE
I’m a father and I’m a songwriter and that’s it.

Everything started with…

My uncle was showing me a Neil Young song on guitar and I think it was “Ohio”. He used to play a lot and as I get older I even wanted to play the guitar and sing songs.

Your sound in a few words?

Melodic and mellow.

On your new album you are talking about personal faults and the kind of unstablness regarding ambitions. How do you manage setbacks and crisis in live?

Music is a kind of therapy. It’s what I do but it is even a way to exercise myself. It’s a thing that makes you feel good sometimes and sometimes it feels even like a job. But I still love to doing music and if I feeling bad for a while I take my guitar and play. Often it helps.

What music do you prefer to listen in quiet minutes?

I like Jazz a lot. For example Miles Davis, and Chet Baker is my favorite singer. But if I have some quiet minutes usually pick up the guitar and play on my own.

And who inspires you?

Bob Dylan was always a big inspiration because he was one oft he first real singer-songwriters. Someone who wrote his songs and played them. Even Woody Allen movies inspire me a lot. In generally people who are doing good work for a long term and continue to do it. People with long careers. And last but not least even the Mediterranean sea.

You’re living in Valencia. What you appreciate mostly in Spain and what’s different from your life in the USA?

I’m coming from a real colder place and so the first thing I have to say: The whether is nice! And I really like that people are not to worried here about time or being on time (laughs) Sometimes it’s okay and sometimes it is even annoying. Even more I like the fact to live in a city where I can walk everywhere. And at the end all the sun and the Mediterranean sea had even an influence on my work.

If someone would asking you what a young singer songwriter should never do: what would you answer?

They should never promote themselves before their music is ready.

A song you will never forget.

It’s a song called „Raven’s Song“ and it’s by Aaron Embry

What’s next?

I have no new projects and the moment but I’m ready to go on tour in Spain, the UK and after that in the US. I will have a couple of concerts and that’s gonna be fun. Hopefully I will come even to Germany in fall but unfortunately it’s hart tob e everywhere at the same time.

Would you reveal us one of your dreams?

Gosh! Let me think about. Yes! I want to buy a Volkswagen van. Like a sleeper van and go on tour with it.

Last but not least: Your question?

What time is lunch? (laughs)

THANKS JOSH ♥
