Hi, my name is Lisa Alma

I AM LISA ALMA ↑

My name is Lisa and I am 28 years old. I live and work in Copenhagen as a producer, singer and visual artist.

everything started with

Writing my first songs when I was 10. Studying contemporary music in London when I was 18. Making music with my brother in his studio in my early 20’s.

your motivation + influences

I’m in a male profession when it comes to being a music producer and one of my biggest motivations is to stick to my own sound in this crazy male dominated industry. I believe that the soundscape of music would be more versatile if there were more female producers. The feedback I get from strangers during/after a live performance or via the internet when I release new recordings or videos is also a huge motivation factor. I want to inspire people to follow their own guts. I’m influenced by random (messy) love stories, photography, performance art, and feminism.

your inspiration for the recent single „man“

A lot of my songs stem from romantic frustration: Apparently that’s what’s happening right now in my life and it’s very tangible for me to write about. „Man“ is about following your desires instead of suppressing them. At some level it’s discussing monogamy vs. polyamory.

some word about „sweater“

This is my second full-length album and it feels like I’ve found a sound that’s more complete and closer to where I want to go in the future. I’m aware of what I do isn’t perfect but I’m extremely curious on music and “Sweater” is a bite of the pie. I like the unpolished to be visible. I’m just getting started.

what’s next

“Sweater” will be out April 21st followed by a small European tour in May.

favorite musicians

Carolina Polacheck with her project Ramona Lisa, Dev Hynes with his project Blood Orange. Geniuses like Sade, Beth Gibbons, Prince, Lauryn Hill, Sinead O’Connor and newer acts like Wet, Glass Animals, The xx and Beach House.

song for the moment

Chinawoman “Party Girl”

It doesn’t matter what you create if you have no fun“

In the future i would love to work with…

Beth Gibbons

what is music for you

A feeling of great enthusiasm and eagerness

what would you’ve been, if you wouldn’t be a singer?

A photographer

tell us a secret

I like to create new words, or at least add new meaning to old words. In my world “sweater” is a combination of expressions like “cool”, “nice” and “great”. The idea is that you can use the word “sweater” as an adjective instead of noun. It’s a really sweater word. I also made up the word “altight” which is an extension of the word “alright” – it’s just a bit tighter.

last but not least: your question

What’s your art?
