HI, MY NAME IS ist der ziemlich einfallslose Titel für eine kontinuierliche Interview-Reihe mit talentierten Fotografen, Musikern, Künstlern und inspirierenden Persönlichkeiten unserer Zeit. Heute stellen wir euch den Dänen Patrick Madsen alias Sekuoia vor, der mit Leichtigkeit Ambient, Hip Hop und grazile, elektronische Musik vereint und uns mit seiner Single „Waves“ in den Bann gezogen hat. Der talentierte Produzent aus Kopenhagen wird übrigens neben Truls und Noah Kin am 11.12. im Fluxbau beim Ja Ja Ja „Christmas Special“ live für Furore sorgen. Lest selbst, was uns der 21-Jährige zu erzählen hat:

My name is Patrick Alexander Bech Madsen. I’m 21 and from Copenhagen, Denmark.

how did you first get in touch with music
I took a bit of piano lessons as a child, but wasn’t really into it at that time, but when I started taking guitar lessons, something happened, and I Became musically interested.

your motivation
Making music that touches people in one way or another.

your inspiration + influences
I’m inspired by stuff that’s a bit odd, or somehow „cloudy“ or distorted. I like when stuff doesn’t get to polished. I’m influenced by the LA beat scene, as well as the UK electronic scene. But I wouldn’t say I’m limited to these genres at all though.

what’s next
An EP in march, playing some festivals, perhaps doing a sideproject of some sort, and working on finishing an album as well.

Is a cool series of events. Enjoyed playing there in London, and looking forward to Berlin.

berlin vs copenhagen
I love Berlin, and the possibilities that the city offers. But I also love living in a smaller city like Copenhagen, and I’m quite satisfied with life here. So gotta go with Copenhagen.
